Frank Winston Crum Insurance Announces Speakers for WCI 2024 Conference

Clearwater, Fla. – July 23, 2024 – Frank Winston Crum Insurance is excited to announce that its own Director of WC Claims Hector Cano and WC Claims Manager Victor Rivera, along with FrankCrum PEO’s Senior WC Claims Manager Kathryn Butkus, will be speaking at the highly anticipated Workers' Compensation Institute (WCI) conference this August. The WCI conference is renowned for offering an unparalleled learning and educational experience, featuring the most relevant and comprehensive sessions led by top leaders and subject matter experts in the workers’ compensation and occupational safety and health industries.

Taking place August 18-21, this year’s conference theme, “Supercharge The Future,” reflects the industry’s focus on powering innovation to inspire employees, elevate organizations, and improve workers’ compensation systems. With 167 educational sessions and 437 speakers, attendees will have numerous opportunities to gain valuable insights and knowledge. Hector Cano will be speaking in a session titled "The PEO Model: Current Trends and Best Practices in Claims Management." This panel discussion will feature representatives from the PEO industry, their carrier partners, and the legal field. Attendees will gain insights into strengthening and building their claims management programs. Key topics include creating an optimal PEO and carrier claims team, challenges with claim reserves, managing large loss claims, and return-to-work programs. Hector will be joined by Ruth Chapman of Stonehenge Insurance Solutions, Ann Kensy of Justworks, Carrie Rath of Next Level Administrators, and Kristen Handley of Peoplease.

Kathryn Butkus will speak in the session "Before, During and After the Petition for Benefits." This session will delve into the statutory provisions of three-day, five-day, and ten-day periods, along with strategies for responding to petitions for benefits. Kathryn will also discuss ways to avoid adjuster depositions and attorneys' fees, offering practical advice for navigating these complex issues. She will be joined by Erik Burch of CCMSI and Michael Laseter of Liberty Mutual.

Victor Rivera's session, "The 120-Day Provision: Challenges and Consequences," will explore the intricacies of the 120-day Reservation of Rights. Victor will focus on understanding the 120-day decision, managing it within the required timeframe, and addressing emerging medical conditions during the course of a workers’ compensation claim. This session aims to equip attendees with the knowledge to handle these challenges effectively. Victor will be joined by Thomas McDonald of Travelers and Leah Dietrich of PMA Companies.
